Assets

This set of columns provides the Project Asset information.  The Project Assets functionality only works on Projects that have already been loaded into Projects Module.  You may not operate the forms or upload data until this has been done.  You must have an existing project on or above the row.

To view the Assets options, you will need to select ‘Assets’ from the ‘Wizard Mode’ list of values provided on the Project Wizard ribbon as per the screenshot below:

The ribbon will be reset to reflect the options available for Assets.

To enter Project Asset details double click in the ‘Assets’ section of the worksheet below row 9 or click the ‘Forms’ icon and select ‘Assets Form’ from the Project Wizard ribbon:

The following ‘Assets’ form will display:

Project Wizard has optional LOVs for Asset Name and Asset Description; these are empty to begin with but you may search for existing items to re-use names or descriptions.  It is also possible to link the Asset Key flexfield to the Asset Name or Asset Description.

Link Asset Key - If you have chosen to link the Asset Key with the Asset Name or Asset Description, there is a further feature.  After you select a linked Asset Key, the database is queried for the last updated Asset Name or Asset Description containing that Asset Key, providing defaults into the Location, Category, Asset Book, and Depreciation Acct fields.

Asset Book - In the Oracle form it is possible to select Asset Category combinations that have no associated Asset Book.  In the Project Wizard Asset form the combinations list has been limited to those actually useable.

Warning:  If you load the ‘Assets’ form AND your cursor is sitting in the ‘Assignment’ column, AND you have opted to use the ‘Show with the Asset’ method of Assignments, the form will evaluate if you are trying to add or update an asset, or add an additional assignment to an asset on another line.
If the cursor is on a blank line and you want to add another Asset, make sure the cursor is not sitting in the ‘Assignment’ column.  This is only an issue if you have selected ‘Show with the Asset’ method for Asset Assignments.

The Asset form has extra buttons available.  If you have chosen the assignment preference ‘Show with the Asset’ you can click on ‘Add Assignment’ and it will automatically add the assignment.  You can also ‘Delete Assignment’ directly from this form.
