Differences between Project Wizard/AMG and the Standard Oracle Forms
There are some important differences you need to know about Project Wizard/AMG and the Standard Oracle Forms.
Oracle Project Form
When you create a new project, you must select an existing project or a template. The copy button initiates the process. The word ‘Copy’ is very descriptive of the process, as an exact copy is taken of the existing structure. Only Quick Entry overrides are used to replace existing items. This means Key Members, Classifications, and all Tasks are copied as they are with a small number of hand typed changes.
Project Wizard/AMG
In this case the template provides defaults for some project level items. You may create a project using Project Wizard with only three data items:
•Template Number
•Project Number
•Project Name
Defaulted into the Project are the following items from the Template:
•Project Type
•Description (if there is one)
•Project Organization
•Project Customer
•Distribution Rule
•Project Status
•Project Assets
•Transaction Controls
•Classifications
•Key Members
Please test your upload thoroughly to ensure the results are as you expect. The download facility is useful for this, as it can show you the results of an upload/update.
If you are updating a Project, please remember the program acts only upon data in the sheet. You CANNOT remove Tasks, Classifications, or Key Members by removing them from the sheet and performing an update (ie this will not delete whatever you are trying to delete).
To help bring the AMG functionality in line with the standard forms, there is a feature in Project Wizard allowing you to copy selected information from the existing project or template INSTEAD of from the worksheet.
