Error Handling and Validation

There are two levels of validation:

Spreadsheet Validation - Wizard data is validated against your Oracle instance list of values, date formats, field lengths and other necessary field level validation. Additional controls exist in the Wizard for data integrity purposes to help the user load valid data, with less chance of the Oracle Import rejecting it.

Upload Validation - The upload process will perform the spreadsheet validation above and then relies on the standard Oracle Journal Import process to perform additional validation.  Should the Oracle Journal Import program reject the interface data, the error message number will be reported back into the 'Upload Message' Wizard column.

Data keyed directly into the worksheet (not via the Journal Header and Journal Distributions Forms) will be validated when it is uploaded.   If you wish to check anything before it is uploaded, simply open the form.  Alternatively you can run the upload process in ‘Validate only’ mode.
