Implode Bill of Materials

Implode: "Show every Assembly where the Item is used, to the level specified"

An Implode download returns every usage/occurrence of the specified Component, and like Explode it will search the Component bills to the level specified.

The Implode download is only available for Bill of Materials and Engineering modes in R12 instances.

Although an Implode can be done without it, we recommend having the optional ‘Exploder Level’ column on the sheet when doing an Implode download, as this will show the level of each parent bill in the hierarchy.

The levels start where the Item is found (1) and go up defining the hierarchy of bills affected by the Item.

Implode can be done via the Download form or by sheet download.

Implode by sheet allows the Implosion of multiple items simultaneously, although this is not recommended due to the sheer mass of data likely to be returned.

When imploding by sheet the Inventory Org Code is not mandatory (it is when Imploding by the download form). If the Organization is not specified, data may be returned from all/any Organization.

The information required for an Explode download:

Inventory Org Code – Restrict to Assemblies in the specified Organization.

Assembly – Specify the Item to Implode

Alternate – Specify which alternate bill to Implode.

Explode Level – Specify how deep to search – select the value on the Ribbon.

Note: Component information is returned where the Component is found, the remainder of the bills (parent bills at higher levels) are returned as part/definition of the hierarchical structure.
