User Defined Attributes (UDAs)

Overview

Oracle Projects enables you to define unique attributes for projects and tasks.  These attributes are set up as user-defined attributes (UDAs).  Refer to Oracle Projects Implementation guide for more details.

UDAs are set up as Attributes within an Attribute Group.  The Attribute Group is associated with an Attribute Context which has a type and name.

There are four Attribute Context types: Class Category, Class Code, Project Type and Task Type.  The context type is then given a name (list of values) which is used to associate the project or task with the Attributes.
For example:
An Attribute Context with type of ‘Class Category’ and name of ‘Product’, which has an Attribute Group of ‘Engine Specifications’
Thereafter, the system associates the Engine Specifications attribute group with projects using a ‘Class Category’ of Product.

Project Wizard

Project Wizard supports Project and Task level User Defined Attributes (UDAs).  It accepts both Single Row and Multi Row UDAs at Project and Task level.

If UDA’s exist in your instance of Oracle the columns will not display in your worksheet.  You will need to:

1.    Insert the appropriate number of columns in the worksheet, either in the Project Header section or the Task section.
2.    Place the ‘Attribute Group Display Name: Attribute Display Name’ in row 9 of the worksheet. Titles like ‘Project Number’ or any other column already in use by Project Wizard should not be used.  See the screenshot below:

Example UDA’s in Oracle and in the worksheet

Note - Only the ‘Direct Task Loader’ mode will work for loading TASK level UDA’s.
