Companies may choose to protect their worksheets with a Password. For example, one person may do data entry into a Wizard and then pass it on to someone else to load it into Oracle. The worksheet may be protected in order to prevent changes being made by the person loading it.
Protecting worksheets with a password can cause issues, particularly if the Wizard cannot write to columns when it is validating or uploading. To alleviate this, an additional icon is available in some of our Wizards. This enables the Wizard to store the worksheet password. The stored password enables the Wizard to update the worksheet (e.g. Status and Messages columns) when it is validating and uploading.
If you have protected a worksheet with a password using standard Excel functionality, please follow the instructions below.
The ‘Store password for worksheet protection’ icon is on the Setup ribbon.
Example of GL Wizard – Setup Ribbon:
New Password
When the icon is clicked the following form will appear. Where previously no password has been entered the ‘Old Password’ field will be inactive. Enter the new password and either tab or click in the ‘Retype Password’ field and re-enter the new password.
Click ‘Accept’ to store the password or ‘Cancel’ to ignore the change.
Change Password
When the icon is selected the following form will appear. Where a password has previously been entered you will be required to enter the Old Password first in the field provided.
Once this has been entered ‘tab’ to the next field. The password will be validated and if this does not match the current password an incorrect password message will appear.
If the correct password is entered your cursor will appear in the ‘New Password’ field. Enter the new password and either tab or click in the ‘Retype Password’ field and re-enter the new password.
Select ‘Accept’ to store the password or ‘Cancel’ to ignore the change.
Multiple sheets which are protected?
If you have multiple sheets which have been protected then use the same password for each of the worksheets.
